Nidhivan is very different from other temples. During daytime you see a beautiful park. But when night approaches, the entire feel changes…this is said to be the location where Krishna comes to dance every night with Radha and gopis.
Nidhivan is a small small forest of Tulsi trees in Vrindavan. It is very famous and an important in Hindu beliefs and mythology. The local people say that Krishna never left this place. Every night he secretly comes back to dance with Radha hence no one is allowed to go there after sunset.
There are many unique features about this temple. The Tulsi trees are not ordinary trees. They are bent, small in size and always come in pairs. It is said that they are gopis in disguise and they join Krishna during Raas Leela at night.
It is believed that without exception Krishna and Radha dance together in the Raas Leela every night. Many devotees have said that they could hear anklets and flute sound from this temple after dark.
No one is allowed to stay inside the temple after the aarti. The temple remains locked after the aarti. People say that any one who wants to watch the Raas Leela at night can go blind, deaf or mad.
Rang Mahal is the most mysterious part of Nidhivan. This is the place where Radha and Krishna rest after Raas Leela.
Every evening, before the temple closes, the priests do something very special. They keep these items inside Rang Mahal:
A sandalwood bed for Krishna to rest on
Paan, sweets, and betel nut for refreshment
A neem twig (datun) for brushing teeth
A water pot for drinking
Shringar items for Radha
The doors are then locked. Nobody enters until morning.
When the priests open the doors the next morning, they always find something strange.
The sandalwood bed is crushed, as if someone slept on it. The paan and sweets are half-eaten. The bed is messy and disturbed. And on the floor, there are tiny footprints of a child. Devotees believe these are Krishna's footprints.
This happens every single day. And nobody has ever been able to explain it.

Nidhivan has more than 15,000 Tulsi trees. Every single one of them is found in pairs. There is no single tree anywhere in this forest.
Every 14 years, Nidhivan produces a special fruit called Vansilal. This fruit is very rare and nobody eats it. It is offered to the deities.
Many visitors say they can hear the sound of anklets and flute coming from inside the temple after midnight. Even birds and animals leave the forest by evening. It seems like they also know that something divine happens here at night.
People come here for many reasons. Some come for faith. They believe that Krishna is still alive here and that they can feel his presence. Others come for the mystery. The stories are so strange that everyone wants to see this place with their own eyes.
Many people come for peace. During the day, the temple is calm and spiritual. The sound of bhajans and the smell of incense create a beautiful atmosphere. And of course, many come simply to seek Krishna's blessings.
Nidhivan is crowded on special days. If you want to avoid heavy crowds, visit on a normal weekday.
| Special Days | Crowd Level |
|---|---|
| Ekadashi | Very crowded |
| Full Moon Night | Very crowded |
| Weekdays | Less crowded |

Always remove your shoes before entering. Photography is not allowed inside. Mobile phones should be kept on silent. And most importantly, leave the temple before the gates close.
The temple is very strict about closing time. Nobody is allowed to stay inside after 7:00 PM. Even the priests leave the premises. So make sure you complete your darshan before that.
Nidhivan is not just a temple. It is a living mystery. Science cannot explain what happens here. Faith says something else. Whether you believe the stories or not, one thing is certain – this place stays with you long after you leave.
People come from all over the world to feel the energy of this place. Some leave with answers. Others leave with more questions. But everyone leaves with a feeling that they have experienced something beyond the ordinary.
