ISKCON Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir – This is one of those temples in Vrindavan where you can hear kirtan playing all the time. Made of white marble, with three altars inside – this place is not just worth seeing, it's worth feeling.
Sacred Story
In 1975, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada built this temple in Vrindavan. His dream was to have a beautiful temple at the place where Krishna and Balaram spent their childhood. It was inaugurated on Ram Navami day.
Why is it special?
-
It is built in Raman Reti – the same place where Krishna and Balaram used to take their cows grazing 5,000 years ago.
-
Prabhupada personally supervised the design and construction.
-
He said:Â "Lord Balaram is the source of spiritual strength. I built this temple to give strength to devotees."
Today's temple is a busy spiritual center. Since 1986, there has been 24-hour kirtan here. So many people come that on the highway, you only see signboards of ISKCON and Banke Bihari.
