History of Dwarkadhish Temple

The Dwarkadhish temple was built in 1814 AD by Seth Gokul Das Parikh of the Gwalior State’s royal court, who was his devoted treasurer.

It is made to honor Shri Krishna in a royal posture in which he is considered the King of Dwarka. The temple is constructed where the original ancient dwelling place was built by Krishna during the period when he resided in the city. In 1734, it was rebuilt by an army commander after being razed to the ground during the siege of the city by the Afghan ruler in the 12th century.
